A little about us and The Drive-In Concession Stand.
We currently live in the state of Georgia.
Growing up in the 60's and 70's, drive-in theatres seem to have always been a part of my life. I have never
owned, operated or even worked in one, yet something draws me to them.
I once had a friend who worked the concession stand at the
HI-M Drive-In in Springfield, Mo. His sister worked the ticket booth so I usually got in for free!
The HI-M is long since gone and is now a housing area. A fate that many drive-ins have fallen prey to.
Some of the drive-ins I remember being in Springfield were, The Queen City, now a Sams Club, The
HI-M, a housing area, The Sunset, closed and sat empty for years only to become a trailer park, The Sunshine or Springfield?
now an office complex, The Holiday, the last to close. The nearest and only drive-in left in the area is The Sunset in Aurora.
I started The Drive-In Concession Stand website Jan 12, 2003. It has remained an off and on project,
mostly off beacause of the difficulty in editing it. That was mostly my fault for setting it up the way I did. Yahoo!
is no longer signing up new accounts for websites and intends to get out of webhosting completely later this year.
I tried my hand at Go Daddy to rebuild the site but that did not work out very well so I cancelled
my subscription. I looked around for free hosting and came across Tripod. So far it seems pretty easy. I 'm not jumping in
this time and doing anything to fancy.
My links pages were the most visited and really the most important part of the site. On the new site here,
the links will be the main thing I want to keep updated.
Why Moonglow and where is Moonglow Drive-In Theatre?
Well there is no Moonglow except for the man in the moon. The name is one the wife and I came up with and
liked so, if we ever had a chance to open one, it would be The Moonglow! or MoonGlow. Of course that would only be in a new
build, an original would keep its name. We are still waiting for that lottery!
That's really about it. We still go to the drive-ins here in Georgia and in Alabama. Our kids have grown
up with drive-in theatres so we have passed it on to the next generation, just like the ones before us!
